RENOTECH HAS BEEN AWARDED FUNDING FOR PHOSPHORUS AND NITROGEN RECOVERY FROM ORGANIC NUTRIENT SOURCES
Renotech Oy has started a project on recovery of nutrients from organic nutrient sources: biogas plants and fish farming and processing waste waters. The main focus is the recovery of struvite and related minerals for a new European fertilizing product. A benefit of the new fertilizing product is that ammonium, nitrogen and phosphorus, which are removed from wastewater – reducing eutrophication after application on fields or amount nutrients to be removed before discharge into the environment – are turned into useful material resources. The product is a slow-release fertilizing product which contains ammonium nitrogen, phosphate phosphorus and magnesium readily accessible to plants. As solid product it can be easily stored and transported. Use of circular economy fertilizing products reduces consumption of finite natural phosphate resources such as phosphate rocks.
The project is funded by the South Ostrobothnian ELY Centre (Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment) through the Recirculation of Nutrients Test Program 2020–2022.
Renotech Oy cooperates with other companies namely Gasum Oy, Owatec Group Oy and Berner Chemicals Oy in the project that runs from November 1. 2020 to August 31. 2022.

Renotech Oy participated in EU RESLAG international workshop 2019, High-Level Dialogue and EU Slag valorization event held in Rabat, Morocco on the 19th and the 20th of June.
Mr. Gaurav Das, responsible for Product Development/Technology Evaluation/New Business, represented the company in the two-day event. He introduced our company and circular economy solutions to industry leaders, which was greeted with keen interest and extended inquiries.
Mr.Gaurav Das was also a speaker and presented a powerpoint presentation and later a poster for the workshop. The paper and poster presentation topic was “Conversion of steel slags into refractories and industrial applications”.
During the presentation the innovations at Renotech were greatly appreciated and it was further validated by separate LCA experts from Italy. Additionally, the work of Renotech was featured in EU media.
Discussions with French Atomic Energy Agency, ENEA Italy, Fraunhofer Germany led to interesting paths. The networking events have yielded more contacts towards new technology development projects.
European companies propose to rebuild the Notre Dame in Paris using ash, burnt stones etc. The construction involves the use of 3-D printing of structures for high level precision and accuracy.
Renotech Oy participated in ChemBio international conference 2019, Annual High-Level Dialogue and Business Conference, held in Messukeskus, Helsinki on the 27th and the 28th of March.

Renotech Oy participated in China Europe Water Platform (CEWP) 2017, Annual High-Level Dialogue and Business Conference, held in Turku on the 21st and the 22nd of September.

Congratulations to our R&D research interns Ime Bassey Isua-Ikoh and Dimitar Jovanovski for successfully defending their master’s theses on September 11th 2017 at Åbo Akademi!
The European Union project (RESLAG) consortium meeting will be held by Renotech Oy and VTT on the 29th and 30th of March, 2017 in Turku. The meeting will bring together representatives from 19 partners from eight different countries, i.e. Spain, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Finland, and Morocco. The objective of the meeting is to monitor the progress in all work packages as well as to synchronize the future work over the whole consortium.
The RESLAG project is funded by the EU through the WASTE call framed within the Horizon 2020 Programme. The project's leader is the Energy Cooperative Research Centre (CIC ENERGIGUNE) located in Vitoria (Spain).
The main objective of RESLAG project is to turn currently landfilled steel slags into valuable products for innovative applications. The four routes considered in the project are: extraction of metals, development of pebbles for TES applications, development of TES material to be used for concentrated solar power plants, and production of innovative refractory materials.
Renotech Oy together with VTT is responsible for the formulation, production, and validation of refractory materials.
