What is Monokote?
Monokote is a life-safety product designed to reduce the rate of temperature rise in steel or concrete in the event of a fire. This prolongs the structural integrity of the elements, which allows more people to leave a building in an emergency situation and gives first responders time to save the building.
Contractor friendly in a number of applications
Monokote fireproofing has been specifically designed to be contractor friendly. The materials are typically spray-applied and can be pumped easily into the upper floors of tall buildings. In addition to being less abrasive and less challenging to pump, users can also elect to inject Monokote fireproofing to vary set time and density of the material.
Designed to resist environmental extremes
Monokote products include multiple formulations designed for a wide variety of applications. Monokote products can be used on steel, concrete and even urethane surfaces, and comes in formulations designed to resist extremes of temperature, weather and industrial environments.
Tunnels, subways and petrochemical refineries all have unique environmental conditions and unique risks of fire—and they all have a Monokote product designed specifically for those needs. Lastly, building codes specify different bond strengths and densities for fireproofing material based on building height. For each set of requirements, Monokote fireproofing provides a solution, for example Monokote MK-1000, a product with a 1000 PSF bond strength designed for buildings over 420 feet (128 metres) tall.
